Abed Pompa has been promoted to Operations Manager at the Tampa Convention Center. He joined the center in May 2024 as Chief Maintenance Engineer, after previously working at Tampa General Hospital.
Pompa holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from the University of South Florida and a Certified Mechanical Contractors License. His experience includes work with building automation controls, HVAC systems, training facilities personnel, and developing technical operations procedures.
The Tampa Convention Center is located in downtown Tampa and features 600,000 square feet of event space along the waterfront. The venue has received several awards, such as the gold medal for Best Convention Center in the Southeast U.S. from Northstar Stella Awards in both 2024 and 2023, recognition from Smart Meetings’ Smart Stars Awards, and a Center of Excellence ranking by Exhibitor Magazine.
The convention center also emphasizes sustainability efforts. It holds LEED Silver certification for Building Operations and Maintenance (O+M). The facility opened in 1990 and will mark its 35th anniversary in 2025.
