The U.S. Census Bureau has released updated Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (TIGER)/Line files for 2025, now available in Shapefile, Geodatabase, and GeoPackage formats. These geospatial data products allow users to create custom thematic maps using a range of data sources.
Among the updates are new Current Suffixed Blocks Geodatabases and GeoPackages. These include both 2020 and current block information, with suffixes identifying blocks that have been split since 2020. The updated files can be linked to the Census Bureau’s current address count listing files.
Geospatial data from these products include legal, administrative, and statistical boundaries as well as roads and hydrography. The boundary data can be combined with future 2025 demographic data on data.census.gov so users can visualize census tabular information on a map.
While TIGER/Line files do not contain demographic data themselves, they provide geographic entity codes (GEOIDs) that allow linkage to the Census Bureau’s demographic datasets. For assistance in selecting the appropriate product, users are directed to consult the TIGER Data Products Guide page.
