The U.S. Census Bureau has announced it will release findings from three major reports on income, poverty, and health insurance coverage in the United States for 2024 at an online news conference scheduled for September 9 at 10 a.m. EDT.
The reports—Income in the United States: 2024, Poverty in the United States: 2024, and Health Insurance Coverage in the United States: 2024—are based on data from the Current Population Survey Annual Social and Economic Supplement (CPS ASEC). These publications provide annual national statistics to assess economic trends and their impact on households, families, and individuals.
The income report will include estimates of annual income, earnings, and inequality. The poverty report will present both official poverty rates and Supplemental Poverty Measure (SPM) estimates. The health insurance coverage report will detail national-level trends by select characteristics to better understand individual well-being.
A question-and-answer session is planned immediately after the presentation. Speakers at the event include David Waddington, chief of the Social, Economic and Housing Statistics Division; Sharon Stern, assistant division chief for Employment Characteristics; Liana Fox, assistant division chief for Economic Characteristics; with Julie Iriondo from Media Relations moderating.
According to the Census Bureau, “The Census Bureau plans to post the reports, data tables and news release to the Income, Poverty and Health Insurance press kit online shortly after the news conference begins.”
The event will be hosted virtually using Webex by Cisco. Media representatives can participate via phone or online platform. Details about how to join are available through this link: https://uscensusevents.webex.com/uscensusevents/j.php?MTID=m7e0f0fe492f905f5dbb5b500a6a5fcf7
