French insurance executive Solly Azar has sold his Oceana Bal Harbour condominium for $30.5 million to Dan Fischel and Sylvia Neil, two legal professionals from Chicago. This transaction sets a new record for condo sales in Bal Harbour, surpassing the previous $25 million sale in 2023.

Property records indicate that a trust associated with Azar sold unit 2601 at 10201 Collins Avenue to Fischel and Neil for $29 million, equating to nearly $3,900 per square foot. The total purchase price of $30.5 million includes both a two-space parking garage and furniture, according to the listing agents.

The residence is a four-bedroom, four-bathroom and two-half-bathroom condo spanning 7,442 square feet. It was listed for $35.9 million by Ruthie and Ethan Assouline and Eytan Namiech of the Assouline Team at Douglas Elliman. Joelle Oiknine, Marie Miller, and Nathalie Attias of the Joelle Team at One Sotheby’s International Realty represented the buyers.

Azar initially purchased the two units comprising unit 2601 for $16.3 million when Oceana Bal Harbour was completed in 2017. The condo features a wraparound terrace measuring 2,335 square feet.

Dan Fischel previously served as dean of the University of Chicago Law School and co-founded Compass Lexecon, an economic consulting firm based in Chicago. He has acted as an expert witness in notable cases such as those related to Enron and wrote “Payback: The Conspiracy to Destroy Michael Milken and His Financial Revolution,” which supported Milken after his conviction on insider trading charges.

Sylvia Neil is a former lecturer in law and associate dean at the University of Chicago Law School. She currently serves as board chairperson of the Lyric Opera of Chicago.

The previous highest-priced condo sale in Bal Harbour also involved buyers from Chicago; in that case, an undisclosed entity paid $25 million for another large unit at Oceana two years ago. The Assouline Team handled both transactions.

Oceana Bal Harbour offers amenities including a spa, tennis courts, library, pool, and poolside restaurant.
