The City of Tampa is moving forward with its Sulphur Springs Neighborhood Action Plan, inviting residents to participate in the second community workshop. The plan aims to coordinate improvements and enhance the quality of life for nearly 10,000 people living in Sulphur Springs.
The Phase 2 Workshop will be held at the Sulphur Spring K-8 Community School from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. City staff will present findings from the project’s initial phase and engage attendees in activities designed to gather feedback and ideas.
“Our first phase included listening to the people who know Sulphur Springs best,” said Evan Johnson, the City of Tampa’s Interim Director of City Planning. ”We gathered data and paired it with surveys, stories, and interviews to better understand what’s working and what needs to change. Phase 2 will be drafting a shared vision for the future of Sulphur Springs and identifying the top priorities.”
Sulphur Springs is located just north of downtown Tampa along the Hillsborough River and has historical roots dating back to the 1920s. The Neighborhood Action Plan depends on input from local residents, business owners, community organizations, and city departments. Goals include improving infrastructure like roads, sidewalks, parks, and utilities; updating development policies; creating programs such as job training or youth activities; prioritizing funding for projects; and fostering collaboration between public agencies and private developers.
Media are invited to speak with Senior Planning Coordinator Lauren O’Neill Tuesday morning from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. for a preview of topics set for discussion at the workshop.
