The City of Tampa is holding a follow-up meeting to discuss the ongoing neighborhood sound study, conducted in partnership with noise consulting firm HMMH. The session is scheduled for Monday, August 18, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and residents have the option to participate virtually.
Ahead of the meeting, Development and Economic Opportunity Administrator Abbye Feeley will be available on Monday morning at Old City Hall for media inquiries about the study’s progress and next steps.
This initiative follows a recent citywide survey that collected feedback from residents about their experiences with noise in Tampa neighborhoods. The survey included questions on general noise levels, times when noise is most noticeable, common sources such as traffic or construction, and whether noise has affected activities like sleep or working from home.
During the upcoming meeting, representatives from the City of Tampa and HMMH will explain the purpose behind the sound study, review key findings so far, outline next steps in the process, and address how different sources of noise—from nightlife to public events—impact community spaces.
“Let’s work together to better understand the noise and find the right balance for our community,” said Mayor Jane Castor. “Your voice is essential in shaping solutions that reflect the needs of all Tampa residents.”
Ongoing input from residents remains important as it will guide future phases of Tampa’s comprehensive sound study and influence recommendations for citywide noise policies.
