DeSantis reappoints Erin Knight; major South Florida real estate moves announced

Erin Knight has been reappointed by Governor Ron DeSantis to the Citizens Property Insurance Corporation Board of Governors, according to a press release. Knight serves as president of Monument Capital Management and division president at A-Rod Corporation, an investment firm led by Alex Rodriguez. She was first appointed to the Citizens board in 2021.

In other real estate personnel news, Miami-based MMG Equity Partners has promoted Marcos Puente to partner. Puente joined MMG in 2018 as director of acquisitions and was promoted last year to principal of acquisitions and development. In his new role, he will continue overseeing acquisitions and development while also focusing on investments and portfolio growth.

The Tika Team, led by Tika Van Den Hurk, has moved to Compass after seven years with Douglas Elliman. The Fort Lauderdale-based group includes Van Den Hurk, Marcos Guerrero, and Dr. Julian Delaney. Over the past decade, they have closed more than $500 million in sales and will now operate from Compass’ Las Olas office.

Ruben Alvarez and Karla De La Torre are returning to Douglas Elliman to join the Eklund-Gomes team. They will lead sales at 72 Carlyle, a planned 20-story tower with 134 units in North Beach that recently launched sales. Alvarez will serve as the project’s sales director. Both left Elliman in 2023 for another development project before returning for this new role.
