Duke Energy and the Duke Energy Foundation have announced a $100,000 donation to the One SC Fund, an initiative recently activated by Governor Henry McMaster to support food banks across South Carolina. The contribution comes as colder weather and the holiday season increase demand for assistance among families facing hunger.

Governor Henry McMaster said, “Duke Energy’s contribution to the One SC Fund highlights the very best of South Carolina. At a time when many families are facing uncertainty, Team South Carolina is coming together to support our food banks and put food on the table. I’m grateful for their generosity and hope it will encourage others to join our effort to help families in need.”

Tim Pearson, president of Duke Energy in South Carolina, stated, “These organizations are fighting the good fight every day in communities across our state, but they cannot do it alone. Duke Energy is happy to stand with the governor, and we encourage other corporate entities, organizations and citizens across the state to help support the fight against hunger.”

In addition to this donation, Duke Energy will provide another $500,000 throughout November to at least 60 feeding programs statewide. This annual campaign aims to address food insecurity during a period when funding uncertainties are heightened by seasonal needs. Since 2021, Duke Energy and its foundation have contributed more than $2.6 million toward supporting these agencies.

The monthlong campaign will also involve company employees volunteering with local organizations such as Harvest Hope Food Bank, Mill Village Farms, Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, FoodShare South Carolina and AIM.

Customers who are struggling financially may also face difficulties paying utility bills. The Duke Energy Foundation provides over $30 million annually in philanthropic support funded by shareholders. The parent company serves millions of electric and natural gas customers across several states including North Carolina and South Carolina while investing in grid upgrades and cleaner energy generation.
