Erika O’Brien named event services supervisor at Tampa Convention Center

Erika O’Brien has been promoted to Event Services Supervisor at the Tampa Convention Center. O’Brien, who holds a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation, joined the convention center in October 2019 as an Events Coordinator II and later served as Accounts Executive for the sales team. In her previous roles, she managed large events and was involved in booking major citywide events from the Mid-Atlantic region and within the sports market.

O’Brien’s experience includes event planning positions with a financial firm and serving as the university president’s event planner at University of South Florida. She is expected to work closely with clients planning conventions, conferences, trade shows, corporate meetings, and other events.

The Tampa Convention Center is located in downtown Tampa and features 600,000 square feet of flexible event space along with modern amenities. The venue has received several awards, including the gold medal for Best Convention Center in the Southeast U.S. from the Northstar Stella Awards in both 2024 and 2023. It has also been recognized by Smart Meetings’ Smart Stars Awards and Exhibitor Magazine’s Center of Excellence ranking.

The center has earned LEED Silver certification for Building Operations and Maintenance (O+M), reflecting its commitment to sustainability. The facility will mark its 35th anniversary in 2025 since opening in 1990.
