Florida Chamber Foundation identifies top 30 high-demand careers in each region

The Florida Chamber Foundation’s Future of Work Florida initiative has released its Top 30 High-Demand Careers list for each region of the state. The list uses data from FloridaCommerce to identify occupations with strong growth and replacement needs that offer wages at or above the state median of $22.53 per hour, or $46,860 annually. The careers cover a range of industries such as healthcare, information technology, education, business and professional services, architecture and construction, transportation and logistics, and hospitality.

The report not only lists the top careers by region but also includes projected income and training pathways for each occupation. Of the top 30 careers, 15 require a bachelor’s degree and 13 require postsecondary training or certification.

Rachel Ludwig, Vice President of Talent Development for the Future of Work at the Florida Chamber Foundation, stated, “This list is more than a snapshot of important careers to keep on our radar. It is a call to action for communities across Florida to invest in education and workforce development now so that every Floridian has access to meaningful career opportunities that strengthen our state’s competitiveness.”

The list is available at both state and regional levels and is a key resource of the Future of Work Florida initiative. The initiative seeks to align education with industry needs and prepare Floridians for current and future job opportunities. It aims to raise awareness and encourage collaboration among students, parents, educators, and businesses to ensure a robust workforce.

The Future of Work Florida initiative has set a goal of creating the nation’s top workforce by 2030 by connecting business leaders with education and workforce partners. The program works to align education and training with industry demands to keep Florida’s workforce competitive and adaptable.
