Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) recognized Florida Lineworker Appreciation Day on August 26, 2025, highlighting the role of lineworkers in maintaining the state’s electricity supply. The day acknowledges the commitment and risks faced by lineworkers who restore power during outages.

“As Florida continues to strengthen its energy grid and storm readiness, we must remember that lineworkers are the frontline heroes keeping power safe and reliable,” said FPSC Chairman Mike La Rosa. “We are grateful every day for the men and women who risk their lives to ensure Floridians have the essential service of electricity.”

Lineworkers in Florida undergo specialized training to operate safely in hazardous conditions such as severe storms and heavy rainfall. They also respond to emergencies beyond state lines, assisting with power restoration efforts after major disasters across the country. Nationally, these workers help maintain more than 5.5 million miles of distribution lines delivering electricity to homes and businesses.

The observance of Lineworker Appreciation Day began in 2012 when it was designated by the Florida House of Representatives to honor those who work daily to provide consistent electric service throughout Florida.
