On August 27, 2025, the Tampa Police Department Fugitive Apprehension Unit arrested Amari Stubbs, an 18-year-old former intern with the City of Tampa Parks and Recreation Department. Stubbs faces charges related to inappropriate conduct with two female juveniles between the ages of 12 and 15.

Authorities reported that in late June, Stubbs began communicating with one of the victims through social media after meeting her at Jackson Heights summer camp. According to police, the victim said Stubbs asked for nude photos and requested sexual activity during their online conversations.

Detectives also learned about a separate incident involving another juvenile female who accused Stubbs of inappropriate touching at the same summer camp last month.

Stubbs was terminated from his internship with the City of Tampa Parks and Recreation Department immediately after these allegations were reported.

Stubbs is charged with one felony count of lewd or lascivious molestation (defendant over 18, victim aged 12-15) and one felony count of using computer services or devices to solicit certain illegal acts.

Police do not believe there are additional victims at this time but encourage anyone who may have been affected to contact the Tampa Police Department at (813) 231-6130.

“This remains an active investigation.”
