IAM District 19 President and Directing General Chairman Reece Murtagh, along with TCU/IAM Vice-President Nick Peluso, visited Capitol Hill to advocate for the No Tax on Overtime for All Workers Act (H.R. 5475). The legislation, introduced by Representatives Nicole Malliotakis (R-N.Y.) and Emilia Sykes (D-Ohio), seeks to expand the current overtime tax exemption to include airline, rail, and other workers who are exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Murtagh and Peluso joined legislative staff from the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) and the Transportation Communications Union (TCU) in expressing gratitude to the bill’s sponsors and discussing strategies to advance the bill before the next tax season.

The proposed measure aims to provide overtime tax relief to workers in the airline and rail industries, similar to the relief already available to many American workers.

“Tell Congress: Railroad and Airline Workers Deserve an Overtime Tax Deduction Too!” the group urged.
