James Malcolm has been promoted to Senior Event Manager at the Tampa Convention Center, according to an announcement from the facility. Malcolm began his career with the center in March 2019 as an Events Coordinator I and advanced to Events Coordinator II in August 2021. During his tenure, he has managed close to 300 events, including large-scale gatherings such as Red Bull Flugtag, Tampa Bay Comic Convention, and SOF Week 2025.

Malcolm is also involved in industry groups like the Event Service Professionals Association (ESPA). The Tampa Convention Center noted that he will continue supporting clients planning conferences, conventions, trade shows, corporate meetings, and other events.

The Tampa Convention Center is located in downtown Tampa and offers 600,000 square feet of event space along with waterfront views. The venue has received several awards for its facilities and services. It was named Best Convention Center in the Southeast U.S. by the Northstar Stella Awards in both 2024 and 2023. Other recognitions include a Best Convention Center title from Smart Meetings’ Smart Stars Awards and a Center of Excellence ranking by Exhibitor Magazine.

The center has achieved LEED Silver certification for building operations and maintenance as part of its sustainability efforts. In 2025, it marks its 35th anniversary since opening in 1990.

“James is ready to use his expertise to help plan your conference, convention, trade show, corporate meeting, or other type of event.”
