A gym and wellness club, Monarch Athletic Club, is set to open its first location outside Los Angeles at The Rivani building in South Beach. The club has leased 8,000 square feet at 1691 Michigan Avenue in Miami Beach and plans to open next year, according to a statement from the landlord.
Monarch Athletic Club was co-founded by Dr. Ryan M. Greene and Paul Freschi. The club provides members with medical evaluations and quarterly follow-ups that include physical therapy as well as strength and nutrition assessments. Other services offered are IV therapy, hormone and peptide optimization, ice baths, and infrared saunas. The staff includes physicians, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, nutritionists, and strength coaches.
Robert Rivani moved his firm—now named after himself—from Los Angeles to Miami in 2022. He is overseeing a $40 million renovation of the seven-story building now called The Rivani. Rivani refers to the upgraded property as Class X after renovations are completed next year.
In August, it was announced that PLBY Group—the parent company of Playboy—will relocate its headquarters from Los Angeles to The Rivani building in South Beach. PLBY Group has leased 20,000 square feet for its 250-employee operation and will move next year.
Elsewhere in Miami-Dade County, Kimco Realty has secured two new tenants at Palms at Town and Country shopping center in Kendall. Starbucks recently opened a 3,700-square-foot shop in a space formerly occupied by Burger King. Barnes & Noble will open a bookstore with a café this week in more than 20,000 square feet previously used by Forever 21. Kimco Realty owns the 80-acre shopping center located at Southwest 88th Street and the Florida Turnpike.
Citizens Financial Group is opening Citizens Private Bank on Thursday at 400 Royal Palm Way in Palm Beach. Led by CEO Bruce Van Saun, Citizens Financial Group reported about $218.3 billion of assets under management at the end of the second quarter.
Jrk!, a Jamaican restaurant led by co-founder Kavan Burke with chef Wayne Sharpe handling culinary operations, will open a third Miami-Dade location next month at Dadeland Mall. Jrk! also plans to operate a concession stand at Kaseya Center downtown for basketball season. Dadeland Mall is owned by Simon Property Group based in Indianapolis.
