The Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections will certify the results of the District 5 City Council race on Friday, October 31, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. Following this certification, Naya Young will be sworn in as the new councilmember for District 5. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. and will take place in the Tampa City Council Chambers at 315 E. Kennedy Blvd., on the third floor.

Media representatives are invited to attend the event. For those unable to be present in person, the ceremony will be broadcast live on CTTV (Channel 15 on Frontier Communications and Channel 640 on Charter Spectrum) and streamed online via the City of Tampa YouTube Channel at @CityofTampaLIVE.

District 5 includes East Tampa, parts of Ybor City, Seminole Heights, as well as downtown and Channel District areas. The seat became vacant after Councilwoman Gwendolyn Henderson passed away in June; she had been elected to represent District 5 in 2023.

For further information or general questions, contact can be made at (813) 274-8211 or by visiting their office at 306 East Jackson Street, Tampa, Florida.
