Police in Tampa are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred overnight in the 6000-block of Woodville Street. Officers responded to a 911 call shortly before 1:00am and found three people with gunshot wounds at the scene. A 21-year-old man and a 19-year-old man were taken to the hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening. A 17-year-old male was transported in critical condition and later died from his injuries.

Authorities said three additional adult males, aged 22, 21, and 19, were also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries related to the shooting.

“No family should have to endure this kind of pain. Our thoughts are with all of those affected by this senseless gun violence. This will not be tolerated in our city,” said Chief Lee Bercaw. “Our detectives are working diligently to identify and bring those responsible to justice. We need the community’s help. If you saw something, heard something, or know something, come forward. Your information could be the key to giving these families the justice they deserve.”

Investigators believe the incident may have resulted from a previous dispute and consider it an isolated event. Detectives are pursuing leads as part of their ongoing investigation.
