The State University System of Florida (SUS) began its 50th annual Admissions Tour today at Florida State University in Tallahassee. The event is designed to provide high school counselors from across the state with updated information about admissions procedures, testing requirements, regulations, and available student resources for all 12 public universities within the system.
“For 50 years, the Admissions Tour has supported Florida’s high school students in achieving their higher education goals by providing high schools with vital admissions information and resources,” said SUS Chancellor Ray Rodrigues. “Through this collaborative approach across the entire SUS, we demonstrate our commitment to a transparent and accessible admissions process, affording all potential students the same opportunity to earn their seat within the nation’s #1 higher education system.”
SUS Director of Admissions and Special Projects Diego Fermin added: “The Admissions Tour is an important part of the SUS’s relationship with Florida’s students and education professionals. By providing an opportunity to connect with high school counselors and leaders in Florida, we help strengthen the connection between our students and our universities. These interactions, presentations, and questionnaires are an invaluable resource that allow Florida’s high schools to be in the know about the latest news regarding student admissions to the SUS.”
The tour is free for participating counselors. Representatives from each of Florida’s 12 public universities will attend every stop on the two-week tour. This format allows counselors direct access to university staff for questions on topics such as recent changes in admissions policies, financial aid options, and post-secondary testing updates.
Each stop on the tour is hosted by one of Florida’s public universities. The schedule includes visits to campuses in Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa, Sarasota, Miami, and Boca Raton over two weeks.
