The Tampa Convention Center will host two free holiday events along the Tampa Riverwalk this season, offering opportunities for families and visitors to enjoy festive activities at no cost.

The first event, the annual Tampa Riverwalk Holiday Tree Lighting, is scheduled for Sunday, November 30, 2025. It will take place from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM outside the Tampa Convention Center, at The Sail Plaza and Big Ray’s Fish Camp Riverwalk. Mayor Jane Castor will light the tree at 6:30 PM. According to the organizers, “Families can enjoy music, festive entertainment, and a stunning waterfront backdrop as the community gathers to kick off the season.” Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to explore decorations and enjoy the waterfront setting.

A second event featuring Santa and Mrs. Claus will occur on Saturday, December 6 and Sunday, December 7 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at The Sail Plaza and Big Ray’s Fish Camp Riverwalk. Organizers note that “Children can enjoy a free meet-and-greet, take photos with Santa, and soak in the waterfront atmosphere at one of the best spots on the Tampa Riverwalk.”

The events are located near several downtown attractions and offer scenic views of Tampa’s waterfront. Families planning their visit have multiple parking options nearby including the Tampa Convention Center Parking Garage (Brorein St.), Pam Iorio Parking Garage (Channelside Dr.), and Fort Brooke Parking Garage (Whiting St.), all within walking distance of event venues.

For those seeking car-free transportation options, the TECO Line Streetcar provides free rides connecting Ybor City, Channelside, and Downtown Tampa. The Dick Greco Station stop is located close to the convention center. Additionally, attendees may choose to arrive via Pirate Water Taxi which stops directly at the venue.

More details about these holiday events can be found on the Tampa Convention Center’s event calendar.

“Whether you’re stopping by after a walk along the Riverwalk, spending the afternoon downtown, or planning a holiday outing with friends and family, this event offers a warm and welcoming way to get into the spirit of the season,” according to organizers.
