Tampa Police are investigating a fatal shooting that took place at the Silver Oaks Apartments on Kenneth Ct. this morning. Officers responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 10:20 am and found a black male in his early 20s with gunshot wounds. Security personnel were already providing first aid when police arrived.

Officers provided emergency medical care until Tampa Fire Rescue transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

A second individual, also a black male in his early 20s, was detained near the scene without incident and has been cooperating with investigators. Police recovered the firearm believed to have been used in the shooting.

According to preliminary findings, authorities believe this was not a random act but resulted from an escalating domestic dispute between individuals who knew each other. The incident is considered isolated, and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

Detectives continue to investigate and will work with the State Attorney’s Office regarding possible charges. “Detectives are now working diligently to gather all the facts and circumstances of this case and are committed to a thorough and impartial investigation to ensure justice is served. They will be consulting with the State Attorney’s Office to determine the appropriate course of action and any potential charges. Updates can be provided as they become available,” according to police.
