The Tampa Police Department has released body-camera footage showing the moments before and after an officer was shot during a recent incident. The video documents the events surrounding the shooting of MPO Laupert, who remains hospitalized but is expected to recover. Despite initial reports on social media suggesting otherwise, police confirmed that Laupert did not require surgery and received medical care for his gunshot wound.

According to police, the suspect in the case has been identified as 21-year-old Jaylin Greene. Authorities say Greene died from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound after fleeing the scene. Preliminary records indicate that Greene had only one known juvenile arrest in Tampa dating back to 2019.

After initially interacting with Greene, Officer Laupert turned off his body camera as he walked away. Following the shooting, he reactivated it while injured. Police highlighted this action as an example of Laupert’s training and commitment to duty.

Detectives continue to investigate what led up to the shooting and how Greene obtained the firearm used in the incident. The department is asking residents to keep Officer Laupert and his family in their thoughts during his recovery.

Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
