Tampa Police have released video footage from a police helicopter and CCTV cameras showing the events leading up to a fatal crash in Ybor. The footage depicts Sampson driving a silver Toyota Camry southbound on I-275, followed by a PIT Maneuver conducted by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), and concludes with the vehicle coming to a stop in the outdoor patio area of Bradley’s on 7th, located on the 1500 block of E Seventh Avenue.
The incident resulted in four deaths and injuries to 13 other adults. Two additional victims self-transported to a local hospital after the initial release, increasing the total number of victims from 15 to 17.
FHP will identify those who died once next of kin notifications are complete. As of this update, authorities report:
Four deceased individuals
Two people in critical condition
Two admitted and now discharged
Two treated at the scene but not transported
Seven others listed as stable
According to Tampa Police, “At this time, there is no evidence to indicate that Sampson’s actions were targeted toward any specific persons or businesses.”
Police ask for continued support for those affected by the incident. “We ask that you continue to keep those affected, and those mourning the tragic loss of their loved one, in your thoughts as we continue to work in partnership with FHP to seek justice for the victims and their families.”
The investigation remains active. The Florida Highway Patrol is leading the case and will provide further updates.
“Thank you to FHP and the State Attorney’s Office for their ongoing efforts throughout this investigation,” Tampa Police stated.
