Tampa Police are responding to an incident involving an armed man who has made suicidal statements and is alone in a vehicle on the 4700 block of W. Estrella St. Officers trained in crisis de-escalation are working to resolve the situation safely. Negotiators are communicating directly with the individual to ensure he receives appropriate care.

Residents from the home where the vehicle is parked have been escorted away as a precaution, and authorities state that no other residents or members of the public are believed to be at risk.

To maintain safety and minimize distractions for negotiators, traffic along S. Westshore Blvd between W. Neptune St and W. Melrose Ave has been closed. The public is advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes until further notice.

Officials say updates will be provided as developments occur.
