This weekend, several events are scheduled in and around downtown Tampa, which are expected to draw large crowds and increase traffic congestion. City officials have advised residents and visitors to plan ahead due to limited parking and higher pedestrian activity.

Events on Saturday, October 25 include the ICMA Conference at the Tampa Convention Center starting at 6:00 AM, the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk at Raymond James Stadium with the walk beginning at 9:00 AM, and the Fight Wright Against Breast Cancer Festival at Perry Harvey Park starting at 10:00 AM. The Hyde Park Art Festival will also begin at 10:00 AM with an overnight closure in effect. Other events include a Haunted Halloween Carnival at Armature Works from 1:00 PM, multiple shows at Tampa Theatre and Straz Center throughout the afternoon and evening, Riverwalk Trick or Treat at Cotanchobee Park starting at 4:00 PM, and a Lightning Game scheduled for 5:00 PM at Benchmark International Arena.

On Sunday, October 26, activities continue with the ICMA Conference resuming at 8:00 AM. The Beyond Walls Concert is set for 10:30 AM at Water Works Park. The Hyde Park Art Festival resumes from 10:00 AM. Taste of Latino will take place in Centennial Park beginning noon. Additional events include more performances at Straz Center and Tampa Theatre during the day, another Haunted Halloween Carnival session starting from 1:00 PM at Armature Works, and a second Lightning Game set for 5:00 PM.

City officials recommend attendees use alternative transportation options such as the free TECO Line Streetcar, DASH service, HART buses, rentable scooters or bicycles to ease parking constraints and reduce congestion.

Drivers are reminded to exercise extra caution near event areas due to increased pedestrian presence including families with children.

“Attendees, goblins, and ghouls are encouraged to use alternative transportation options whenever possible, including the free TECO Line Streetcar, DASH service, HART buses, rentable scooters, bicycles, etc.”

“Drivers are asked to use extra caution in and around event zones and be alert for large numbers of pedestrians, especially small children, families, and zombies.”
