Tampa to hold flag-raising ceremony for Down Syndrome Awareness Month

Tampa City Councilman Luis Viera will join disability advocates and community members for a flag-raising ceremony at Old City Hall on Thursday, October 23, at 8:30 a.m. The event is being held to mark Down Syndrome Awareness Month.

The City of Tampa plans to raise the Down Syndrome Awareness flag above City Hall as part of its efforts to increase awareness and promote advocacy for people with Down Syndrome and their families. According to the city, this initiative is intended to help break down barriers faced by individuals with Down Syndrome.

“By raising the Down Syndrome Awareness flag above City Hall, the City aims to help raise awareness, break down barriers, and promote advocacy for people with Down Syndrome and their families,” the statement read.
