The University of South Florida (USF) will hold its annual Homecoming celebration from October 12 to 18, inviting the Tampa Bay community to participate in a series of events under the theme “Forever Green and Gold.” The week-long tradition is one of the university’s oldest, dating back to 1964, and aims to highlight the pride and achievements of USF students, alumni, faculty, and staff.
Events open to the public include a kickoff gathering on Monday, October 13, at the Marshall Student Center Amphitheater on the Tampa campus. The event will feature appearances by USF President Rhea Law, Rocky D. Bull, the Herd of Thunder band, and the USF Spirit Squad.
On Friday, October 17, the Running of the Bulls Parade will take place on the Tampa campus, with spectators encouraged to watch along Holly Drive, Genshaft Drive, and Alumni Drive. This year’s Grand Marshal is Rob Higgins, USF’s first Athletics CEO, who began his role this month. The parade will include student organizations, local businesses, and USF departments.
The week concludes with the USF football game against Florida Atlantic University Owls on Saturday, October 18, at Raymond James Stadium. Tickets for the game are available for purchase online.
“Come be a part of a USF tradition and support participating student organizations, local businesses and USF departments. Enjoy watch parties and other festivities along the route, for families and students alike. This year’s Grand Marshal is Rob Higgins, USF’s first-ever Athletics CEO, who began his tenure this month.”
USF’s Homecoming serves as an opportunity to recognize the contributions of its alumni, who number more than 397,000 worldwide. Of these, about 301,000 reside in Florida and over 3,100 work at their alma mater.
A full schedule of events is available on the USF Homecoming webpage.
