The Winpisinger Center has announced the launch of its Online Steward Training program, set to begin on October 1. The initiative aims to provide essential training for new shop stewards who are unable to attend in-person sessions at the center.
“This initiative is another step forward in expanding our members’ access to quality union education, no matter where they live or work,” said Winpisinger Center Director Mary McHugh.
The program is open to all members in good standing who serve as stewards. It will be conducted over three consecutive weeks, with each session lasting two hours and covering two topics. Sessions are offered three times a week, allowing participants flexibility in scheduling.
In the first week, topics include the role of the steward and steward rights and responsibilities. The second week will focus on grievances and investigations. The third week covers just cause and discipline cases as well as contract cases and past practice.
Sessions are scheduled for Wednesday mornings, Thursday evenings, and Saturday late mornings during each week of the program.
Members interested in participating can self-register through the provided online platform or use links distributed by the organization. Additional questions may be directed to the Winpisinger Center via an online form.
